"The boxer confronts the camera with his scarred torso, Punching Bag with Scar. His scars and the bag's scars are a continuation of each other, a symbolic self-flagellation which unites man and object. All for the ritual, the everyday ritual inside the ring, or in the streets. The ritual is not about the survival of the fittest, but the survival of humanity, allowing the primal parts of the self to redefine its boundaries, attracting in the process a collective identification with different times and dimensions, with different senses of space."
